As to the Barlmeyer families in Gütersloh, in the 17th, 18th and part of the 19th century they lived concentrated in a few villages in the north part of the Gütersloh district, the most important being Halle, Borgholzhausen, Bockhorst, Versmold and Werther.
The family names are written without the characteristic
d, in Werther even without the
l: Barremeyer, Barrmeyer or, still farther away, Barmeier.
The name Barmeier occurs frequently in villages in Kreis Herford: Enger, Spenge, Bünde, etc. No investigations will be done in these regions.
