In the Netherlands three families with quite different origins have lived, of which two got extinct in the male line during the 19th century.
The only nowadays still existing, rather extended family was founded by Coenraad Hendrik Bardelmeijer, born in Lienen, at the beginning of the 19th century:

In the middle of the 17th century Helmich Barlemeijer, probably coming from Bremen, settled in the town of Amersfoort and founded a family that during its existence exclusively lived in this town:

Several other German Bardelmeiers settled in Amsterdam. As far as they were members of one of the German families from the Steinfurt region, their descendants are incorporated into the family trees in question.
One German family from the town of Halle in the Gütersloh region settled in Amsterdam:
3. The Amsterdam family of Johann Hermann Barrelmeijer
Two of his sons emigrated to Amsterdam in the period between 1820 and 1835, in order to gain an better existence as a bread baker than in their homeland. At the end of the 19th century the families they founded, became extinct in the male line.
